Opal Springs Dam Fish Passage

Wednesday April 4th from 5-7pm
at Orvis in the Old Mill:
A crucial step in successful reintroduction

Trout Unlimited and other partners recently signed a Settlement Agreement with the Deschutes Valley Water District related to the development of fish passage at the Opal Springs Dam located on the Crooked River at river mile 7.2 upstream of Lake Billy Chinook. The dam has been a barrier to fish migration since it was built in the 1920's. This agreement is a crucial step in ensuring the successful reintroduction of Steelhead and Salmon to the Crooked River. As well, our Native Redband Trout, Bull Trout and other coldwater species found in this fishery will benefit from this agreement. The Deschutes Chapter will be assisting with fundraising and sharing information about the project as it develops.

Presentations with a question and answer session will be focused on how TU and the Deschutes Valley Water District (along with our other partners) are working together to ensure the success of this project. This will also be great opportunity to meet and greet with other Chapter Members, and to learn more about other projects and programs your Chapter is engaged with here in the Upper Deschutes Basin.

As always, we will have some appetizers and refreshments available for everyone. Please feel free to bring a family member or fishing buddy who may have interest in our Chapter and this very informative meeting.
