The Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited currently has over 400 members dedicated to working with all organizations in the area to improve the Upper Deschutes watershed.

Dear Mr Mackiewicz,
 

Trout Unlimited submits the following comments on the Ruby Pipeline Project Final Environmental Impact Statement. We understand the BLM is using this Final EIS to support its decision on Ruby's application for a Right of Way and Temporary Use Permits for all federal lands impacted by the project.  We expect the BLM will consider and adequately address our comments in any Record of Decision it may issue approving Ruby's application. TU also understands that formal consultation under the Endangered Species Act is ongoing and could result in additional stipulations and mitigation measures that the BLM must include in any Record of Decision.

Volunteers needed for Redband Redd Survey on the Metolius

Dates: February 3rd – May 12th, Every Two Weeks, Short Day Trips
Please join ODFW for this important yearly effort.  See the Deschutes TU website for exact dates and contact information.  This is best for experienced volunteers.  You can click here to find it on the Calendar Page.

Hike and Planting Project with ONDA* from the Rim to the Deschutes River
Dates: March 22nd (Mon.), day hike and service project
Come celebrate the birthday of Earth Day founder John McConnell by helping heal the scars left by old roads in the uplands of the Middle Deschutes with the *Oregon Natural Desert Association.  We will be helping improve the uplands, by planting and seeding the Scout Camp area with native vegetation to jump-start rehabilitation of the area.  We also will be able to fit in a hike on the spectacular new loop trail down over the edge to the river.
