The Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited plans on playing a role in this reintroduction effort by:
Monitoring issues pertaining to further developments concerning the establishment of Destination Resorts within the area.
Actively engaging in restoration projects from Pelton Round Butte Dam upstream to Steelhead Falls on the Deschutes River, the Crooked River Watershed up to the dams, as well as the Metolius River and Whychus Creek.
Developing a community outreach program that seeks to educate the public and develop strategic partnerships regarding the reintroduction of endangered and anadromous fish in the Deschutes Basin.

For the first time since 1968, salmon and steelhead will be swimming their way up the Metolius, Crooked and upper Deschutes Rivers. Through a unique partnership, PGE and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will be restoring fish passage around the Pelton and Round Butte dams on the Deschutes River.
