OREGON CASTING GAMES Return to BEND, OREGON
Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimted to Host 3rd Annual Casting Games and Trout Festival September 10, 2011
(BEND, Ore.)—The Bend Casting Club and The Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) announced this week that it is holding the 3rd Annual Casting Games at the Orvis Casting Course located at the Old Mill District on September 10, 2011. Included in the days events will be the 2nd Annual Central Oregon Trout Festival to highlight youth education & fly-fishing. Both of these events are a fundraiser for the Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
The Casting Games have been held in Bend for the past 2 years while the Trout Festival was produced last year in conjunction with the event and was a huge success. Hosting both events in Bend will maximize the attendance of both events and will attract fishing, outdoor recreation, and fly casting enthusiasts from around the region.
“TU is very excited about continuing the Oregon Casting Games & Trout Festival in Bend,” said Ted Brownrigg, President of the Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited. “This is a great opportunity to showcase the fun of Fly Fishing while giving back to Trout Unlimited for the work they do here in the Basin. We have a great event planned this year all while still focusing on fun and promoting safety and sound fly casting techniques.”

The First Rule of Casting Club is: YOU ALWAYS BRING A COLD BEVERAGE! The Second Rule of Casting Club is: YOU ALWAYS BRING A DESIRE TO HAVE FUN! The Third Rule of Casting Club is: YOU TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO CASTS A FLY ABOUT CASTING CLUB! The Fourth Rule of Casting Club is: YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR CASTING SO YOU CAN CATCH MORE FISH!
Ok, enough rules... There are so many in our daily lives that we totally disregard, that the Bend Casting Club is not the place to have many. If you want to disregard the rules and just come by to listen and have a good time, you are always welcome to. The Bend Casting Club was spawned from the minds of those who are closest to the Casting Games at the Orvis Casting Course located in the Old Mill District for the past two years, this die-hard crew of fly fisher men and women, tournament casters, fly fishing instructors, beer drinkers (not too shy about it either), are a fun bunch of people to learn from. In my capacity as the Communications Chair for the Deschutes Chapter of TU, I have had the pleasure and honor to work closely with the group at Orvis and these individuals to promote the sport and raise some money for our Chapter for the past two years.
Let's start from the beginning so we can give this group a bit of background and perspective. Here is a brief introduction into how this all got started:

The 2010 Orvis National Casting Competition has concluded with a great weekend of activities and plenty of fun was had by all. To ALL of our volunteers this weekend, we cannot thank you enough. Without their help, their keen eye for judging and willingness to brave the heat over the weekend we would not have been able to make this event happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who devoted your weekend to this event. I am taking in all of the photos over the weekend right now and putting together video footage as well, so look for updates in our galleries and video pages soon - Gabe Parr, Deschutes Trout Unlimited Communications Chair. Please click the "read more" under this lead-in to find out what the official results were.
